\nTERRORISM <\/p>\n
The recent depraved terrorist attacks in Tunisia, Kuwait and France are only the latest examples
\nof the global threat posed by terrorism.<\/p>\n
Acts of violence intended to intimidate civilians or
\npoliticians for ideological and or religious purposes represent a growing phenomenon around
\nthe world.<\/p>\n
No continent and no country is immune from the scourge of terrorism, as the latest
\nexamples have demonstrated, and therefore a coordinated, global response is necessary to
\ncombat it.<\/p>\n
Therefore, the CDI:
\n Notes with grave concern the rising threat of global terrorism and, in particular, the
\nda\u0176gerous rise of Da\u2019esh \u037eISIL\u037f over the last year.<\/p>\n
We reaffir\u0175 our stro\u0176g co\u0175\u0175it\u0175e\u0176t to
\nunite with our allies in the Arab world in our common efforts to defeat terrorism and
\npreserve international peace and security.<\/p>\n
Strongly supports UN resolution 2199 of February 2015 which calls for disrupting the
\nfunding and financial resources of Da\u2019esh, setti\u0176g a refere\u0176ce for the i\u0176ter\u0176atio\u0176al
\ncommunity to target and suppress any possible means of financing of terrorist groups
\naround the world.<\/p>\n
Reaffirms that the international community must put forward a comprehensive
\napproach to the fight against terroris\u0175, i\u0176cludi\u0176g agai\u0176st Da\u2019esh a\u0176d its affiliates such as
\nBoko Haram, as well as Al-Qaeda and its allies, such as Al Shabab, and various groups in
\nSoutheast Asia.<\/p>\n
The threat is not confined only to Islamic extremist groups, as
\ndemonstrated by the terrorist acts committed by FARC.<\/p>\n
The efforts of the international
\ncommunity must be complemented by UN actions as well as by further engagement with
\nregional partners in order to implement a more global, active and effective counter-
\nterrorism strategy.<\/p>\n
In this context, it is vital that the states in the immediate region
\nacquire more visible and practical containment capacities and increase their ability to
\nindependently take on more operational responsibilities.<\/p>\n
Expresses concern over the attacks against vulnerable groups such as women and
\nchildren.<\/p>\n
In the same sense the attacks to Christians and other religious communities
\nand stresses the need for the better protection of civilians.<\/p>\n
Perpetrators of war crimes
\nand crimes against humanity must be held accountable, including by the International
\nCriminal Court (ICC).<\/p>\n
Calls on the international community to strengthen the intercultural and inter-religious
\ndialogue and build a partnership with civil society in order to de-legitimise violent
\nideology and prevent the radicalisation of youth.<\/p>\n
In this sense, we reiterate our
\ncommitment to the freedom of thought, conscience and religion or belief as a
\nfundamental human right guaranteed by international legal instruments to which the <\/p>\n
majority of countries in the world have committed and which are recognised as holding
\nuniversal value.<\/p>\n
Supports all initiatives aimed at promoting dialogue and mutual respect between
\ncommunities, while calling on all religious leaders and authorities to promote tolerance
\nand to take initiatives against hatred and violent and extremist radicalisation; <\/p>\n
Encourages the international community to find a common approach to cooperating
\nwith online social networking services to ban terrorist propaganda from their channels of
