In the second week of January CDI General Coordinator Alberto Ruiz Thiery visited São Tomé and Príncipe for the purpose of holding a series of meetings with Patrice Trovoada, President of the IDA (Independent Democratic Action) party and Prime Minister, as well as with Secretary General Levy Nazare, other members of the government, and high-ranking party officials.

This visit was organized during the Executive Committee meeting of CDI Africa held in November in Praia, Cape Verde, which the IDA’s general secretary attended as a special guest. During the conversations President Trovoada demonstrated an interest in belonging to the CDI family and submitted his letter requesting Membership, to be presented at the next Executive Committee meeting, scheduled for 1 March in Brussels.
