Executive Committee IDC. Africa

It was an important meeting at which new parties were accepted as members: from Malawi, the Malawi Congress Party; from Botswana, the Botswana Patriotic Front; from Kenya, the Wiper Democratic Mouvement Kenya; and from Guinea Conakry, the Parti de L’espoir pour le Development National. Regional IDC.Africa currently boasts 22 member parties from 18 different countries and more than 800 deputies in the parliaments of its respective countries. One of the important items on the agenda at this meeting was the appointment of two new vice-presidents: Daviz Simango, President of the MDM party in Mozambique; and Lazarus Chakwera, President of the CCM Party in Malawi, thereby reaching the number of vice-presidents on the Executive Committee. During the session the draft version was presented of the statutes of the Pan-African Group, which will be made up of all the parliamentary representatives of our member parties sitting in the Pan-African Parliament, based in Johannesburg. It was very well received by the participants, and we hope to finalise this initiative in the month of July, once it is reviewed by the member parties. In attendance was the President of the IDC-CDI, Andrés Pastrana, the former President of Colombia; along with the Prime Minister of Sao Tome and Principe, Patrice Trovoada, among other political.
